For your 2027 benefits re-enrolment, you’ll use AGA’s new Benefit Portal to make your benefit selections.
Before you can begin your re-enrolment, you’ll need to register for the portal and create an account. To register, you’ll need:
You’ll also need to create your own password (this year, you won’t receive a password by email) and verify your registration by email.
Keep in mind: The Benefit Portal is only for benefits re-enrolment and updating your information. It does not replace your Canada Life account. You’ll continue to use Canada Life to submit claims, track your claims, view your remaining balances, and manage your Healthcare Spending Account (HSA).
See our step-by-step registration and sign-in instructions.
Every year, our Trustees carefully review the plan’s coverage and costs to make sure it continues to provide valuable benefits that support your needs today, while keeping the plan strong and sustainable for the future.
Over the past several years, our benefits plan has navigated the challenges of the pandemic and market volatility, rising health care costs, as well as other entertainment industry-related challenges. Because of these pressures, our Trustees recognize that maintaining a strong and sustainable benefits plan requires, at times, difficult decisions – such as increasing costs or making changes to who qualifies for coverage.
With this in mind, you may notice some changes coming into effect in 2027 to help keep our plan financially healthy for the years ahead.
Here’s an overview of what you can expect for 2027:
For 2027, we are increasing producer contributions by approximately 6% and upgrade costs by approximately 5%. This means that when you re-enrol, you may see a change to the coverage you automatically qualify for and increases to upgrade coverage.
To confirm the coverage level you automatically qualify for, go to the benefit page in the Benefit Portal starting November 2. For details about qualifying for coverage and upgrade costs, see the Determining Coverage Levels page.
If you die while a member in Active Good Standing, the Trustees want to ensure your surviving spouse and eligible dependant children continue to receive a core level of coverage.
Starting January 1, 2027, if you have Level I coverage or higher, your surviving dependant(s) will receive some level of health and dental coverage for two years after your death, or three years if you have 25 or more years of membership in the DGC.
For more information about survivor benefits and details on what your surviving dependant(s) will receive, see Survivor Benefits section on the healthcare and dental pages.
Starting January 1, 2027, to be eligible for Level II or III STD benefits, you must have worked and made contributions to the DGC Benefits Plan for at least 14 days under one or more DGC deal memos or participation agreements in the 12 months before the date of your disability.
If you have Basic, Level I, Life Member, or Enhanced Life Member coverage, or you are over age 75, you continue to be ineligible for benefits coverage while on an STD leave.
For more information about STD benefits, see the Short-Term Disability (STD) Insurance page.
